Isobel Clarke

Trainer, educational consultant and, until the recent past, Assistant Head of Backwell School, responsible for CPD and leader of the Training School; Isobel Clark has been a community mediator, facilitator, counsellor and trainer since the 1990s. She has worked in conflict resolution, distributed leadership, health and well being and change management in North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Bristol; running courses for heads, senior leaders, administrators, middle managers and local government staff in ways of working collaboratively to recognise the creative potential of addressing conflicts, developing emotionally intelligent leadership and ways of building strong, effective teams. She works with heads and senior leaders in organisations providing insights and support through 360 feedback, one to one coaching/mentoring and running courses in Ethical Leadership and Emotional Intelligence.

She was until recently on the board of the Cabot Learning Federation until it was decided that her practical hands on training skills were of more use to schools in the Federation. Her practice is informed by the work of Stephen Covey, Daniel Goleman, Simon Sinek, Michael Fullan and NLP techniques; underpinned by her belief in the effectiveness of assertive communications, utilising our emotional intelligence and individual response-ability!

Her workshops and training days are predicated on both what the organisation requests and also what the participants feel their needs are. She therefore devotes time to listening to the needs of all concerned in the pre-planning stage. The sessions are characterised by high energy delivery, active group participation and the explicit linking of theory and practical application. Participants’ evaluations comment on the high quality of the training, the emphasis on practical responses to challenging situations and the atmosphere of safety, allowing for exploration, risk taking and openness.
