Maureen Hunt

Maureen Hunt is an education consultant specialising in supporting outstanding practice in Early Years settings and Primary schools.  Her vision is to ensure that all schools and settings are supported to deliver outstanding Early Years education so that all children thrive especially those that are vulnerable or disadvantaged.

Maureen’s background is in Early Years and Infant education in Southampton, where she taught for over 22 years in four nursery and Infant schools. She subsequently worked for NCH (now Action for Children) as a project leader for Cornwall Children’s Fund and led the development of new and innovative services in Cornwall designed to improve children’s engagement in school. Following this Maureen worked for Cornwall LA children’s services, where she was responsible for leading a multiagency team in family services and developed six Children’s centres in Southeast Cornwall. Maureen was Head of Early Years at Achievement for All where she led on the design and the delivery of their new setting improvement programme for Early Years “Achieving Early”. The programme has won the Nursery World Award for Inclusive Practice in 2015 and was highly commended in 2016.

Maureen is currently supporting the delivery of the new Early Careers Framework for teachers, the new education NPQ programmes and tutors trainees undertaking the EYITT programme. She also works as a visiting lecturer for Marjon university on their education Masters’ programme.

Maureen holds a B.ED, a Master’s Degree in Education Management, the  NPQH and the National Award for Special Educational Needs co-ordination.
