Avril Jordan

Avril is committed to improving the outcomes and opportunities for young people through supporting the development of current and aspiring middle leaders and through working with teachers new to the profession to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence necessary to support them in reaching their potential.

Avril has been a secondary school teacher for 25 years and a Senior Leader for 13 Years.

In this time she has worked extensively with trainee teachers and NQTs, including a secondment as a Leader Mentor to Teach First, and is currently working part time at Bristol University as a Professional Tutor for Year 1 Teach First Participants. She has considerable experience in mentoring, coaching and monitoring curriculum leaders to support them in improving the quality of teaching and learning within their teams.

She has held responsibility for Teaching and Learning and CPD and has worked closely with partnership schools to share best practice across schools.

She is a Community Governor at a large Primary School in South Bristol.

Notable achievements/awards

A member of a Leadership Team that more than tripled the standards and outcomes of a secondary school in Bristol that was once named in the lowest 200 performing secondray schools in the country. This year, Bedminster Down was graded Good by Ofsted, a remarkable journey of school imrpovement.
